As human society entered into 21st century, both the residential are and construction level have no comparison between the past and present. The modern urban residential area, right now, which has the fastest construction speed, the grandest scale, the widest range, the most connective relationship with human lives also have a great development under the constantly strive of the human being for a more humanizing design, perfect living space. This article is based on analyzing some problems exist in the present Chinese urban residential area, introduce the main residential block in the western residential area plan, and focus on summarizing the characteristic of the residential block to find out the open mode inline with the present national conditions and the development of the times. Therefore, the writer tries to put forward the thesis and the argument.In this article, firstly, explain the definition and connotation of residential block, then, briefly review the development of it in foreign countries to find the develop regulation of it.
