| The fast developing of society economic, not only requested a higher level of the transport facilities, but also provided conditions for further development. In modern highways and urban overpasses, curve girder bridge were used widely. So, it has great significance to accurately hold the stress and deformation characteristics of the curved girder bridges for its building, operating and further developing.Curvature made the prestress reaction of curve box girder bridge more complicate than that of straight girder bridge. So, this manuscript studied on the design, which have some characteristics, at the beginning. Torsion would be produced when curve beam under self-weight load, and, torsion and radial force would be produced when structure under prestress load. Such forces would brought prominent side reactions. Some serious phenomenon of that, such as side shifting and revolving of the beam, bearing disjoint, pier shaft cracking, web side cracking, had occurred during construction or operation. That was because of dsigners not mastering qualities of curve bridge sufficiently. So this paper researched causes of side reactions, and advanced some structure constitution for preventing destruction, which provided references for designer to avoid such problems in designing continuous curve bridge. Then, a grillage model of practical project was analyzed in MIDAS/Civil to considerate its side reactions.Web side crack was further studied among these side reactions. This paper derived the mechanical principle and causations of cracks, advanced the method for local checking based on code. In designing, building, and operating, influence factors of this side reaction, such as curvature, prestressed steel bar and control tension force, support configuration, diaphragm, temperature, was discussed detailedly. Then some suggestions to avoid side cracks were proposed and discussed.
