The gear-drive is a main form of the machine movement and power transmission. It plays an important and particular role in the industry development, which is once regarded as the symbol of industrialization. The worm-drive is an important type of the gear-drive which has great advantage in large drive ratio and small structure. Besides, the worm-drive can operate smoothly and steadily, and has little noise. The worm-drive is widely used in modern industry, especially in the field of machine tool manufacturing, in which the ordinary cylinder worm-drive is the important drive form of the general low speed transmission platform and continuous graduation mechanism. As a kind of ordinary cylinder worm gears, the involute cylinder worm gear can be grind, so it is easy to guarantee its machining precision. In addition, the transmission of this kind of worm gear is more efficient than the other two kinds of ordinary cylinder worm gear. However, current research on worm-drive is mainly focused on seeking the best tooth profile and new forms of worm-drive, so the area of worm-drive needs to be further studied .The general indexes of evaluating the power worm-drive quality is its bearing capacity and transmission efficiency. The stress analysis is the foundation of calculating the bearing capacity, and the deformation analysis is the basis of researching the worm-drive's dynamic performance and repairing the tooth profile. In addition, Researchers find that if the friction coefficient within tooth surface changes 0.01, the transmission efficiency of the worm-drive will change 5 to 10 percent. The key points in this thesis are the research on contact stress and transmission efficiency of the involute worm-drive, main contents are discussed in this thesis as follows:1. The equations of tooth surface and meshing of the involute worm and worm gear are established according to the spacial meshing theory, and then the precise modelling research on the involute worm-drive is proceeded based on that.
