The Automotive Finishes was composed of Cardura E 10-based acrylic resin with high-solids and excellent weather resistance as main resin, and Cardura E10-based polyester resin with high-solids as additional resin to be used to improve decorative properties, such as chubbiness, gloss, PGD,and so on, of the only acrylic amido automotive finishes. The emphases of this thesis is concentrated on the following three aspects, The high-solids Cardura E10-based polyester resin, The high-solids Cardura E10-based acrylic resin and using the two resins to modify high-solids automotive finishes. Besides, the differences between automobile paint with high-solids and that with general-solids in decorative appearance were also comparedThe key of this technology is using E-10 that possesses special functional monomer to reduce the viscosity to preparing the hydroxy acrylic resin and polyester resin. In the process of preparing acrylic resin, some factors that affect the viscosities and performances of paint film were discussed, such as the reacting dose of special functional monomer, the kinds of hydroxy monomer and the relevant amount of hydroxy group, the kinds and amounts of initiator, and the Tg of resin. In the process of preparing polyester resin, the following aspects were tested and argued: the reacting does of E10, the selection of polyprotic acid and polyhydric alcohol, the design of alcohol dose and the process of synthesizing resins.It's that the aim of studies were, in development of automotive finishes, good ornamental and high-solids. We put emphasis on the selection of resin, design of rate of pigment and resin in process of preparing of color paste, and optimized the methods of sag prevention. Contrasted our results with the resin paint at home and abroad. Besides, we also compared the differences between automobile paint with high-solids and that with general-solids in decorative appearance. The results showed that the high percent solidity and low viscosity technology is good to modify the appearance ornamental.The results of experiment showed that the properties of high-solid automotive finishes have been reached as expected through the using of E10 and the reasonable technology. The experimental product with excellent performances can meet requirements of the top grade automotive finishes which would become one of the most competitive products in the market of automotive finishes in our country.
