Welding is a very important step in producing Car-Body. The welding quality of Car-Body in white plays an important role in the whole car. Reasonable welding spot layout can insure welding quality, reduce production cost and improve the working efficiency. However, the measures and theories used by currently most domestic car makers are far lag behind the advanced level. The plans are neither perfect nor lack of mathematics argumentation, which will result in increasing product cycle time and impacting the whole product line. So it is necessary and urgent to present reasonable plan and program relevant software.Based on PASSAT B5 and according the characteristics and requests of welding spot layout this research developed "Welding spot Management System of Car-Body in white". Before designing, it analyzed the welding process of Car-Body in white and discussed the influencing factors such as parts, welding process and product resources. Then the article presented the mathematic model of welding spot layout, analyzed the archetype was Knapsack Problem. After comparing three kinds of arithmetic to Knapsack Problem and combining with the characteristics of welding spot layout this research chose Mountain Climbing Arithmetic as its mathematics arithmetic.This research developed the welding spot management system in the environment of Visual C++.NET and SQL Server 2000. According to standard procedure, from database to interface and to functional modules, the system was developed step by step and realized scheduled functions. These functions were searching welding spot module including welding spot No. searching, part No. searching and advanced searching; assigning welding spot module including assigning welding spot and canceling it; welding spot information module including looking for and amending these information. At last this research used a working procedure in the Left Front Door of PASSAT B5 as an example to explain how the system to be used in actual product. The significance of this research is that it used mathematics language to describe welding spot layout which traditionally depended on humane resource and programmed relevant software according the requirements of enterprise. The system can let workers make welding spot layout with the help of computer, and it can enhance the working efficiency and veracity. So the research has both society and economy benefits.
