This thesis first reviews the-state-of-the-art of arch-truss braced system for large-span steel roof structure with focus on its design and construction. Taking the terminal building of Beihai Airport as an example, the structural elements arrangement, cross section design and mechanical properties of this special structural system are discussed in detail. Based on the pervious analysis, further studies are conducted on three aspects of the structure. First, the original structural design is rechecked according to the new national design code. Second, the effect of non-uniform foundation settlement on the structure is analyzed using field settlement records. Third, the effect of joint installation error on the structure is analyzed. The calculation results demonstrate that this terminal structure is safe and reliable according to the new design code. For future structure adopting the same arch-truss braced system as Beihai Airport Terminal, the non-uniform foundation settlement and installation error of steel structure must be taken into account in the structural design.
