Through formulating the dynamic equation of the asymmetric structure considering SSI(soil-structure interaction)and TC(torsional coupling) and then get equation in frequency-domain by FOUNTIER transitation, this dissertation focuses on the earthquake resistant performance of the active tuned mass damper(ATMD)/active multiple tuned mass dampers(AMTMD) for asymmetre structures. The criteria for the ATMD/AMTMD optimum parameters is defined as the minimization of the minmimum values of the maximum displacement dynamic magnification factors of the structure with the ATMD/AMTMD.The criteria used to evaluate the effectiveness of the ATMD/ AMTMD are the ratios of the minimization of the minimum values of the maximum displacement dynamic magnification factors of the structure with the ATMD/AMTMD to the maximum displacement dynamic magnification factors of the structure without the ATMD/AMTMD,using the optimum parameters obtained in reducing the displacement responses of structures. Employing the above-defined criteria, parametric studies for the influences of the normalized eccentricity ratio(λ_e ), torsional to translational frequency ratio(λ_ω),height-to-base ratio(δ_h) of the asymmetric structure and the dominant ground frequencies(λ_ g) are then carried out on the optimum parameters and effectiveness of the ATMD/AMTMD. Through the numerical analysis and compare, the conclusions obtained herein will be useful for the design work of the asymmetric structures.
