This paper is finished on the base of the experiment for the hydraulic natures of the quarter-circular breakwater. The quarter-circular breakwater is a new type of breakwater. It developed from the semi-circular breakwater. Compared with semi-circular breakwater, when the groundwork is preferable, the quarter-circular breakwater could decrease width of bottom and the amount of the stone bedding as much as possible. So this type of breakwater will be more economical. The hydraulic natures of the quarter breakwater have been studied in the paper from two aspects of numerical simulation and experiment.Based on the systematic analysis of experiment data, methods of studying the random waves, which include representative wave method, probability analysis, spectral analysis and model tests, were applied to study the hydrodynamic characteristics of quarter-circular breakwater. Reflection coefficients, statistic and spectral characteristics of wave forces are investigated in detail, then how various factors influence the spectral are discussed. In the end of the paper, the basic theory of the numerical simulation has been introduced, also this method is provided to study hydraulic natures of the quarter-circular breakwater.
