Quarter-circular breakwater is a new type of breakwater on the basis of a semi-circular breakwater. The same as semi-circular breakwater, quarter-circular breakwater is also located on the rubble bed, its advantage is that the breakwater bottom width reduced by half, and greatly decrease the number of rubble bed, which forcing us to study its feasibility and hydraulic characteristics.Based on the physical model test of wave flume, the distribution of wave forces on the quarter-circular arc surface is studied, and the wave force calculation formula of breakwater is seeking; By analyzed the test results, Goda formula method of wave force calculation formula is put forward, and which will be suitable for quarter-circular breakwater.Bringing the wave force, wave torque and the corresponding correlation coefficient,standard deviation and average by calculated into anti slipping and anti overturning limit state equation of quarter-circular breakwater established by according to JC method, and considering the correlation calculation method of reliability index. The paper uses the approximate probability method to analysis the reliability of quarter-circular breakwater, and to calculate the reliability index, the failure probability and partial coefficient. At the same time, the paper gives partial coefficient value of the quarter-circular breakwater about anti slipping and anti overturning design expression. Based on the theory of reliability design, the results of this paper will increase the reliability design level of quarter-circular breakwater.The force of wave on quarter-circular breakwater was investigated using the engineering software of the numerical flume-NEWFLUME. Based on the result that equation of numerical simulation agree well with experimental results,a new approach to study hydraulic natures of quarter-circular breakwater is provided.
