This paper explains in detail the technology of monitor and optimization about operating modes of coal-fired boiler's combustion in power plants, and current situations of its development and trends in domestic and abroad. The structure of modeling for expert system is confirmed through the analysis of parameters under many combustion operating modes. A concrete analysis of the model's trait and structure for artificial neural network is made, deep research to BP neural network is carried out, and an improvement of BP algorithm is made. Some combustion parameters of 300MW boiler are obtained by using numerical simulation software, as the samples of the model to train and predict, the modeling of the system is examined. The judging system for combustion operating modes is made under the principle of fuzzily and synthetically judge, and is used to conduct the combustion optimization. The conduct system of boiler combustion optimization based on VB language is also introduced, which is illustrated from several aspects, such as module, function interface, and etc.
