Protection relays are among the essential devices to guarantee the stability of power system. With the development of integrated substation automation and its extensive application in power system, it has become the general requirement to study and design the intelligent devices integrating protection, measurement, control and communication.At the beginning, the dissertation presents the theory of studying and designing 35kV power line protection and monitoring device. The protection configuration is analyzed and the protection mechanism and algorithm applied by the device are introduced.The hardware part is subsequently demonstrated in detail, including the function description and circuit design of microprocessor TMS320LF2407A as well as its auxiliary chips. Since the software to realize the various functions of the device is rather complex, the real time multi-task operation systemμC/ OS_II is used as a platform in programming. The modular programming method forμC/OS_II based measurement and control protection software is given in detail.An outstanding feature of the device is its function of communication. The embedding process of 103 protocol into this device is also demonstrated on the basis of the introduction of 103 protocol, which is widely applied as one of protection relays communication protocols.Finally, the device is simply tested. The results demonstrate that it bears many advantages such as fast calculation, rapid response, complete function and convenient operation, compared with the traditional microcomputer protection devices.
