Dry type power transformer is widely applied due to its advantages: fireproofing, innocuity and non-maintenance and so on. If the insulation of dry type transformer is designed properly, it will not only improve the voltage grade and capacity of the transformer, but also increase the economy of the transformer. The accurate analysis of the electric field is very important to the rational design of dry type transformer. The paper establishes four kinds of electric field analysis models for the ANSYS software: two and three dimensional high voltage coil models, two and three dimensional end section models, on the basis of understanding the insulation structure of SG10 dry type transformer. SG10 Grade-H insulation self air ventilation dry type transformer is chosen as a concrete analysis object in this thesis. The modeling, computation and field display are completed by the ANSYS.After understanding the interface technology of ANSYS software, the command-line program based upon APDL parametric language is applied in the finite element method (FEM) analysis of the four models. Besides, a program for the model modification and result visualization is written through C++ Builder6.0 software. The two parts mentioned above, are combined to develop a FEM electric field analysis system of dry type power transformer, in which the parameters of insulation structure size and dielectric constant can be directly modified. Subsequently, by running the command-line programs in ANSYS, the visual electric intensity and electric field distributions of the four models can be obtained. The research work of this thesis has significant engineering value to the study of the numerical analysis of the electric distributions and the insulation design of dry type power transformer.
