With the development of economy and advancement of people's life, buying private cars becomes more and more wide-spread. Among most factors such as price, performance etc, safety is the first factor which car consumers take into account. However, there is no systems or methods which can assess car safety comprehensively in the world. As a result, founding such a system is expected by car consumers.In this paper, the multiple layers fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method is used to found the model of assessing car safety. At first, this paper analysis the factors deeply which involve car safety. Based on this, an index system of assessing car safety is founded,subsequently G1 method is used to calculate the index weights of different layers. This paperregards the relevance to the best grade of cars' safety as the car safety index. In order to consider the cars'performances of preventing safety critical units from failure and avoiding human error more enoughly, principles of assessing safety design were used to adjust the assessment result.Finally, two types of cars are cited to expound the application of the model founded in this paper. The result shows that the model can ensure the objectivity and the accuracy of the assessment result.
