The perimeter intruder location detecting system based on leaky coaxial cable is a newly invented outdoor detecting system in the recent years. It has some special characteristic such as high conceal property, the low error rate and so on. It is widely applied to some important areas such as battalion fortress, nature conservation and petroleum stockroom.The perimeter intruder location detecting system makes use of leaky coaxial cable because it not only transmits the signal but also can emit and accept the signal. It mainly uses the emitting signal. The field analysis is beneficial to the choice of the cable's type and the configuration when the leaky cable is applied to the system.The field analysis of the leaky coaxial cable is mainly described in this paper using both the theoretical calculation and the field tests. At first, the fundamental and the development of the leaky coaxial cable has been introduced in the paper, especially about the demand when leaky cable is used in the perimeter intruder location detecting system. In addition, the field distribution obtained by the tests is introduced. From the tests, we can know the field character of the SLYWV-75 leaky coaxial cables both at the axial and vertical position. We also draw the pattern about this kind of cable. All of them are obtained at the 45MHz frequency. At last, the computer emulation is presented. In this part of the paper, the field characteristics and the performance parameter about the SLYWV-75-10 leaky cable are obtained by the finite element method. We use the software -Ansoft HFSS to finish the emulation. The analyzing result shows the field character by the comparison of the results, and the conclusion is also used to develop and optimize the system.
