Strain-softening is very common in geotechnical material, and ignore strain-softening may make slopes easy to slide, bringing disaster. Up to now, taking strain-softening effect into consideration of slope stability is a difficulty question and also a hot research area.(1)This article raises the general mathematic expression of geotechnical material direct shear experiment data for curve fitting and its least square calculation method. This expression has the advantage of clear physical meaning, good usage and so on. Calculation of Typical geotechnical synthetic material interface, clay, and sand direct shear experiment result prove above advantages.(2)Based on the above expression, binding limit equilibrium method, this article raises a limit equilibrium method for stability analysis of strain-softening slopes. This method is easy to comprehension, and easy to applied to usage. Using it can get the safe factor reprehensive the slop real statute, between factors calculated using peak strength and residual strength.(3)Write programs based on the above method and implement limit equilibrium method of strain softening slop stability analysis ,finally through several examples prove the effective of the method.(4) This article applies this method into stability analysis of landfill, through the example of Kettleman hill landfill slide problem, hope to supply theory basis for landfill design of our country.Research achievement has application value for design of strain softening slopes and slide remediation.
