Limit Equilibrium Method And The Application Of The Dda Method In Rock Slope Stability Analysis

Relied on the project Comprehensive Study and Treatment of Big Slope in Dexin Open Copper Mine, the paper takes big slopes as an object of study in the purpose of solving practical engineering problems, especially in the aspects of determination of basic parameters of rock slope, analytical models and stability analysis. The major work which has been done is as follows:1. Based on enormous on-spot researches and engineering experience, it is generalized history, status quo and prospect of slope engineering with help of a lot of documents. Much emphasis is put on the comparison on the results deduced through the analytical method for stability, determination of Limited Equilibrium Method (LEM) and DDA method.2. After overview the geological properties of each slope of Dexin Copper Mine, including rock property, geotectonic property, regional geological environment, basic destructive module is established.3. In order to get proper parameter for engineering practice, related in-door and out-door rock material experiments are conducted. Standards for Appropriate rock mechanical and slope safety parameters are determined through engineering optimization.4. According to practical demand, LEM is partially improved and programmed correspondingly. Many analytical calculation is made on failure module, secular sliding module, plane sliding module, double plane sliding module ,wedge sliding module to name a few.5. DDA is used to study the big deformation and big displacement of slope. The use of BLOCK program successfully analyzes the deformation tendency of slope in Dexin Copper Mine. Thus, appropriate assessment for the stability of slope is arrived at. The analytical result falls in conformity with that of LEM.6. According to the analytical result, a comprehensive stability assessment is reached for each slope in the targeted area. The corresponding measures and suggestions are put forward for unstable slopes.
