During the construction of embankment on soft soil ground, people are accustomed to small deformation hypothesis, namely the hypothesis soil body subsidence deformation enough slightly, such hypothesis may simplify the question very good and has the good serviceability in practical. But, when the soft soil ground loaded higher load, because the high pore-water ratio, lower strength, high compression all are the characteristics for the soft foundation, the soft foundation has large settlement under load, so it is necessary to take deformation into account. Against to this practical condition, large deformation theory is used to analysis the stability of the embankment slop in the paper, all the work done is as follows:1.The soft soil will have the quite big displacement and the deformation when loses the stability and element strain will be above 10% or 20%. In order to simulate the practical condition, it is used to analysis the stability of soft-clay road embankment slop by strength reduction FEM of big deformation, and compared with the result by strength reduction FEM of small deformation.2.There will be large deformation and settlement after soil layer is loaded on the soft soil ground, at the same time, buoyancy function is acted to the soil above ground water originally. The influence to stability is analysed considering settlement and ground water.3.Taking the influence of shearing strength growth with the development of consolidation and deformation of the foundation into account, safety factor of the slop is got when it loses stability by lager and small deformation considering the big deformation by consolidation.4.It discusses the influence of many ways of loading soil layer to stability, and assess the rationality of the loading plan.5.Structural style of the embankment section,length and position of the rib and so on to the stability are discussed.
