The Natural Poem With Ration

In 21 century, the wind of fashion has been blowing over the field of architecture. Facing all kinds of western philosophy trend of construction and expression means, a number of young architects are unable to do with it, and finally lose their rationally calm thoughts. In 2002 the Pritzker Architecture Prize, which is the worldwide top award in the architecture, was presented to Australian architect Glenn Murcutt. In the turbulent trend of architecture, he insists on the function of supreme ideal, creating a lot of works such as pastoral deriving from the natural landscape and the regional culture , and expressing the unique construction esthetics point.The thesis indicates that the basic frame of Murcutt's creation—the self-reflection and reappearance under the rational principle about modern architecture as well as region culture which is the combination of ration and poetry. Ration and nature have finally become the two important aspects of his ideology. According to it, the thesis has profoundly discussed the three facets: function supreme, natural poem and craft esthetics. Meanwhile by retruning to the original specific history background and the natural humanities environment, the author comprehensively studies his design idea and the creation approaches in order to demonstrate his unique value orientation and the esthetic viewpoint.At the end, the thesis summarizes some key words of Murcutt's design. It doesn't only give us a new point of view to improve our architecture work with having rational ponder, but also excavates spirit of Murcutt's personality to stimulate the young architects driving their own way.
