Modeling And Optimization Of Operations On Airport Terminal Area Based On Discrete Event System

Flight operation in airport terminal area is a typical discrete event dynamic system, and the main character of the system is that events fire with some order or in some special case, and most of the events are concurrent and stochastic. It is hard to analyze such systems in general way. But Petri Net is intuitional, understandable and wieldy tool when modeling and simulating discrete system, especially in description and analyzing; Petri net can easily describe the relationship of concurrent, synchronization, conflict of dynamic system, so do the resources and their constraint. Petri Net is also a mathematics object with strict definition. With the analyzing method and technology that developed based on mathematics, it can be used not only in static structure but also dynamic analyzing.The author studied the operation in airport terminal area in this thesis, chose Timed Petri Net as the tool, modeled and simulated the flight arrival/departure and ground handling. The model can provide more efficient utilization of the finite airport capacity, by farther optimizing flow distributions to short the turnaround time of flight, decrease obviously the flight delay caused by ground handling. The content of the thesis is summarized as follows:Firstly, Introduce the theory and application of Petri Net, as well as the form, development, application of PN, high level Petri Net and their application fields, and so on. And then set up an OOTPN model for operations in the airport terminal area. The model encapsulates data and operations of some objects, reduces the complexity of Petri Net. Modeled a Petri net with inhibitor arcs model for the operation of flight arrival/departure, and set up a timed Petri net model for flight ground operation in airport.In the end, simulated the model with the program based on VB 6.0. It turns out that the model has preciseness and feasibility.
