Voltage is an important index to weigh the power quality, reactive powercompensation by shunt capacitor is an effective measure to improve voltage qualityin distribution network. Up to now, most researches about shunt capacitor are tocalculate electric parameters of compensation nodes; but its influence on othernodes is neglected. This paper proposes a new method to analyze the voltageregulating efficiency of shunt capacitor, which is based on interface flow. Theinfluence on the voltage is analyzed, and the effective compensation scope of shuntcapacitor is discussed, which is the base of coordinate operation of reactive powercompensation. According to the numerical results of IEEE-14 bus system, themethod proposed in this paper is available. At the end, visual reactive powercompensation soft is designed.
