| The technology of fault diagnosis (FD) is a new intercross technical science. Since it was applied to industrial enterprises, it has brings great benefits to the social land economic development. With the development of computer and communication technology, especially the technology of Internet makes the study and applications of remote fault diagnosis (RFD) become possible. Embedded system has flexible, special and universal excellence. These advantages offer new orientation of remote fault diagnosis system development.The paper has exploited a software system for remote on-line monitoring and fault diagnosis based on embeded ethernet controller for rolling mill test-bed of WUST metallurgical equipment institute, making use of C++Builder software. The papers object matter as following:(1) The papers developing a network structure for the embedded remote monitor system based on Ethernet. And then this paper designs the system application structure based on SQL Server database and SOAP model;(2) Against the difficulty in developing and maintening, defects of traditional monitoring and fault diagnosis system based on C/S mode, B/S mode is put forword to establish a remote online monitoring and fault diagnosis system.All the development,maintenance and upgrade are beared by the server.Client only needs to install the Internet Explorer, which realized trully thin client;(3) applyed the ActiveX technology, the OCX contorller consist of all the signal process functions, because the OCX contorller is being download to Client and run on it. It can relief the workload of the server;(4) To ensure security of the network, the system provides password and firewall technology;Running in labor proved that the system interface is friendly and easy to study. It has better security, well portability, well expandability and well stability. The system has some ideas to borrow for more perfect in the future, it can be extend to apply to the industry scene.
