Steel structure is more and more widely spread in civil engineer with the rapid development of our country, examinations and the appraisals of steel structure gain more and more attention too. The practical appraisal law used in the standard and regulations in our country presently overcomes many shortcomings of traditional method, but still could not provide the failure probability which the building continued to serve. Therefore, this method can not judge the structure the reliability completely. Besides, in evaluating the rank division of the standard, there still exists "one to all" phenomenon which departs too much from the reality. That is, two quantities in the neighboring sector boundary which have small difference are treated as different grades.This article attempts to establish continual subordination function by using fuzzy mathematics, solve the "one to all" problem with mathematics method, thus making the steel structure appraisal result more reasonable. The bearing capacity, the distortion, the deviation are appraises the rating three to be main factors in steel structure component reliability assessment. In order to make the result become more close to the reality, this article treats the rust and the damage as independently factors, using weight redistributing to make the result get close to the real situation.This article elaborating examination characteristic, the reliability theory and basic concept of the fuzzy mathematics in details, building subordination function with the fuzzy mathematics method establishment, unifying the expert experience and the research achievement, using the level analytic method to determine the various components weight steel structure, carring on the synthesis to gain result finally.As the example, using this method to do a real appraisal to a slag processing workshop of Banshan steel company.
