The destruction induced by vertical seismic action during earthquake is existent objectively, and universalism. The large numbers of phenomena have demonstrated that the influence of the vertical seismic action is obvious, sometimes even becomes dominant factor. High-rise structure, because of its height and softness, responses more drastically, that may leads to a serious aftermath. So the vertical seismic performance analysis of this kind of structure is very important.This paper analyzed the calculating model of dynamical response under vertical earthquake, and established vertically dynamical model and vertically vibration differential coefficient equation, then adopted numerical integral method to work out. The structure was solved by dynamic time history analysis through inputting vertical earthquake waves, and the stiffness matrix and consistent mass matrix adopted by the program considered bending influence. Three kinds of vertical earthquake waves are used: EI-centro wave, Hebei qianan wave and Tianjin ninghe wave. The prime purpose is to make the mechanic characteristic of this structure clearly under the vertical earthquake waves, and to offer some reference during vertical seismic design. The outcomes of the computational example show that the proposed method is much more rigorous. The results of high-rise structure under different earthquake waves have been analyzed and compared, and this paper summarized some rules of dynamic response, and put forward some references of seismic design. It is valuable to engineering design.
