Along with the developments to large capacity, high voltage and interconnected large power networks, the security and stability of large power network is always a study hotspot, researchers have done substantive work and achieved enormous progress and a great deal of production. The main power grid is strengthened and consummated. There are a lot of regional systems in larger power networks, such as industrial power plants, they usually supplies power to regional important customers, but the problems about the security and stability of regional systems in larger power networks are urgently needed to resolve. One of the problems is the how to ensure the stability of the regional systems when the main grid lost.Combined with the practical project, this paper fully studies the stability of the industrial power network when external faults occur. In this paper, the research background of the project firstly is introduced, and the mainly research perspectives of power plants which have similar special structure by academic circles home and abroad is surveyed. Then the analysis method of the project is presented in detail, and the mathematic model was developed based on the characteristics of the thermal power plant of Tianjin Petrochemical Company. PSASP is applied to realize the simulation of the dynamic behavior of the power plant under different conditions, by this way, the weak parts that may cause power plant outage are discovered, and the improvements are explored. Thus it provides theory basis for technical modifications in future, and also gives a reference for stability control of similar power networks.
