At recent, steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) has developed widely, and a lot of research have indicated that the steel fiber which mixed into concrete can evidently improve the mechanics capability. Toughness of SFRC is one of important capability in its mechanical character.Test results show that the steel fiber in concrete have more effectiveness in improving the toughness; the splitting strength of SFRC are higher than the plain concrete, although their compressive strength are almost the same. Especially, with the increase of the contents of the steel fiber things are getting better. The damage of the new mixed SFRC under the dynamic loads is obviously smaller than the plain concrete.At the same time, this paper introduces the composite theory of SFRC accompanied with crack preventing effect, the formula of toughness calculation of SFRC was derived theoretically, and the choosing of the parameters was discussed particularly. Thus, a corresponding quantitative expression between toughness and steel fiber content of SFRC under the typical condition was given. An evaluating method of toughness of SFRC is primarily founded as well.
