The superstructure is the place where the crews reside in and the apparatus are located in. The severe vibration of superstructure will influence the crew's normal daily life and also make the apparatus operate abnormally, so the vibration on superstructure has been researched extensively by experts. Especially in recent years, most of the engine rooms are located in aft of the ships such as bulk carriers, container ships and oil tanks, and this arrangement will make the exited force made by main engine and screw propeller more heavy.In this article, the type of superstructure vibration, the source of vibration and the calculation of vibration frequency have been studied. The deck covered with deck covering is the familiar structure in the superstructure. The research on dynamic characteristics of this kind of structure is the mainly studied in this paper. The following is presented in the article:In the foreword, the background and significance of research is pointed out, and the current research situation of the vibration of superstructure and vibration of deck covered with deck covering has been summarized and the research method is given.In the first chapter, the calculation method of vibration frequency about global and local vibration of superstructure has been studied. Then the natural frequency of superstructure of a container ship is computed using the global estimation method.In the second chapter, the physical characteristics of deck covering including material, function, classify and fabrication properties are introduced.In the third chapter, the laminated theory's development of composite material has been described, and in which the first shear theory has been narrated.In the fourth chapter, the 4-node quadrilateral shell element is deduced according to the isotropy linear elasticity laminated theoryIn the fifth chapter, the static and dynamic characteristics of typical deck structure covered with deck covering have been analyzed by program. The influence of deck covering characteristics and dimensions on structural mechanics characteristics has been studied. And then, natural frequency of stiffened deck construction covered with deck covering has been calculated using different models and contrasted the computational solution.In the sixth chapter, the vibration test of plate covered with deck covering is carried out. Then the influence of deck covering's dimension on the structure's natural frequency and damping has been evaluated.
