PMU applied to electrics power system has developed quickly in recent years.Generator angle and main bus voltage phasor are the major state variable. With the synchronous clock that produces using GPS,PMU collect generator angle and main bus voltage phasor at the same time in different area.As the electrics power system becoming more complex, electromechanical oscillation general analysis method has much shortcoming. The paper carries out the electromechanical oscillation analysis using the generator angle data curve collected with PMU. The mathematics model of Prony is adapt to describe generator angle data curve of electromechanical oscillation. Through Prony analysis, we can directly get amplitude, phase, frequency and attenuation coefficient and damp rate.The parameter choice of Prony algorithm has great influence to the result. The paper has compared the performance of different parameter choice,and studied mainly how to select suitable Prony algorithm order. The paper has used SVD method to determine the order,and then using TLS method to carry out parameter optimization calculation. Prony algorithm is very sensitive for noise, the generator angle data collected by PMU usually contains much noise of high frequency. The paper has discussed Prony algorithm in the actual application. It includes data pretreatment and the influence of non steady signal and noise to algorithm, the reliability in matrix operation, the resolve of morbid equation and the choice of the signal.The paper has proved the validity of Prony analysis through several simulation example,and used FFT in frequency domain to verify the handling for original data process whether useful signal has been retained. and it can be used as a reference to accuracy of Prony analysis result.Finally the paper summarily introduces PMU local online supervisory system,synchronism phasor measurement technology and generator angle measure method. Local data display and analysis platform has been developed.
