Arched Corrugated Steel Roof (ACSR) is a typical cold-formed thin-wall space steel structure, which has many advantages that is having dead weight, quick in construction and beautifully shaped. Since it was introduced to China in late 1980s, it has been widely used and has high competitive power and developing prospect.During this kind of structure has been widely used, it also exposed some fatal weakness that is bearing capacity is not high and the rigidity is small resulting in the limited application span scope, which has restricted the structure application scope seriously, and has affected this structure development tendency.This paper takes the type MMR-238 of Arched Corrugated Steel Roof as its object of study, and two strengthening methods of this structure is suggested in this paper. The strengthening steps as well as corresponding characteristic are introduced in this paper. Finite element models with different span, ratio of height-span and load case of the strengthening structure are established by using the ABAQUS software. The ultimate bearing capacity , deformation and failure modes of the ACSR are analyzed and compared for the strengthened and ordinarial structure. The detail works is as follows:1, Two strengthening methods of ACSR structure is put forward, and the structural forms as well as the characteristics of the ACSR are expound for the strengthened and ordinarial structure.2, How to use ABAQUS finite element software to set up the strengthen structural model of ACSR is explained in detail.3, By making use of the ABAQUS finite element software, the geometric and material non-linear finite element analysis of 24m, 30m and 36m span of ACSR under the different ratio of height-span and load case is carried out for the strengthened and ordinarial structure. The analysis result indicates that the ultimate bearing capacity and rigidity of ACSR with the two strengthening method are enhanced remarkably. They two strengthening methods for ACSR have some certain application value.
