In recent years, with the rapid development of diesel vehicles, emissions from diesel vehicles attract more and more concerns. In order to control the serious vehicle emissions situations and make the internal regulations integrate with Europe as soon as possible, the environmental protection department of our country issues motor vehicle emission regulations successionally. There is great disparity between internal and foreign diesel vehicle emission control technologies, especially in light duty high speed diesel engine emissions. How to control diesel vehicle emissions effectively is very important for Chinese diesel vehicle development.Fuel quality has important influence on vehicle emissions and it is in close relationship with emission control technologies. America, Europe and Japan had carried auto-fuel projects to establish connections between fuel and engine technologies, but our country is basically in blank state in diesel parameters and vehicle emissions connection research. And it is a newer subject to evaluate the emission influence factors in internal vehicle emission test technologies by on-board instruments.Through summarizing domestic and international auto-fuel projects, diesel parameters (mainly sulfur contents, cetane number and cetane index, acromatics, density, viscosity etc)' influence on vehicle emission characteristic was deeply investigated, which provides scientific basis for constituting the fourth stage diesel standard to accord with the national conditions.The upgrade of the internal emission regulation is an enormous challenge to both automobile industry and petrochemical industry. This paper contrasts the differences in emission limits, testing circulations etc of regulations before and after upgrade, and expects to offer some clews to control diesel vehicle emissions. By virtue of CATARC's testing abilities and advanced measurement instruments such as ELPI for PM testing and OBS-2200 for gaseous pollutants, we designed rigorous experiment scheme, carried on bench test and on-road emission test, discussed the challenge brought by the upgrading regulation and the influence of fuel and SCR, and researched emission characteristics of diesel vehicles on real road conditions. For the concern about PM number in abroad at present, this paper also utilized ELPI to study PM number emission characteristic and discussed the feasibility that ELPI used onreal road measurement.
