As a new structure which has the performance of masonry and concrete, the reinforced concrete masonry shear wall has been used more and more recently. As the main load-carrying and lateral force resistant member of media-storey structure, the performance of its end restraint effects greatly on the whole wall. Code for Design of Masonry Structures (GB50003—2001) only defines transverse restraint of the reinforced concrete masonry shear wall structurally. Base on the test results of He Yanli of Harbin Institute of Technology, the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete masonry shear walls with hoops allocated at the end was studied in this paper. The horizontal cyclic loading experiment of three reinforced concrete masonry shear walls with end restraint and one without end restraint had been carried out. The capacity, the load-deformation relationship, the failure process and the failure mode had been studied. The data of deformation of the rebar in core column, the hoop reinforcement at the end, the block and the lateral deformation of the walls were recorded during the whole experiment. According to the analyzing of the test results, the hysteresis loops, the skeleton curves and the rigidity deterioration were described. Compared with the wall without end restraint, those with end restraint had shown greater ductility and energy absorption. Subsequently, the effect of the end restraint on the flexural capacity is analyzed.Making reference to the characteristics root of hoops content of the concrete shear wall structure, restraint at the end of the reinforced concrete masonry shear wall was researched. At last, improvement way of the end restraint of masonry wall was advised by the author.
