Small hollow concrete block has been used widely in engineering due to its distinct economic and social benefits. The reinforced block short-leg masonry shear wall structure is introduced in this paper in terms of the research of concrete small hollow block structure and reinforced block structure. Meanwhile, the structure also possesses the predominance of reinforced concrete short-leg wall. Study show that the structure not only can enhance the earthquake-resistance behavior of the whole structure system but also can decrease construction cost. Therefore, the structure meets the strategy of a long period of development in our country, and it must accelerate the development of tier building and high-rise building under 12 layers. In this paper, the 4 reinforced block short-leg masonry shear walls with T—section have been tested under eccentric load. The stress and the deformation performance, the load-deformation relationship, the failure process and morphological character have been studied. During the whole experiment, the deformations of rebar and block, the lateral deformations of the walls, and the vertical load were all noted. The author uses two different methods to analyze carrying capacity of the walls. One method uses the Code for design of masonry structures (GB 50003—2001),the other method uses the Technical specification for concrete structures of tall building (JGJ 3—2002). The result indicates: first, two kinds of calculation methods have no obvious difference when used in analyze the structure introduced in this paper, second, the calculation method used in the reinforced block masonry shear wall structure can be applied to the reinforced block short-leg masonry shear wall structure. The nonlinear FEM calculation method is adopted to simulate the behaviors of the reinforced block short-leg masonry shear wall. Subsequently, the effect of different eccentricity carrying capacity of the wall is studied by means of extensive parametric analysis. The verification data from both the test and the FEM analysis shows that the modified formula is in good agreement with the FEM analysis results.
