| Intelligence and networking are the development trend of modern road lighting management system. The rapid development of Computer Science, communication technology and embedded system related technology, had provided a good hardware and software plain stage for the design of such a system. A road lighting management system using ARM and low voltage power-line carrier communication technology was presented in this thesis. The design of the Cluster Lighting Controller, which is used as a field control equipment in the system was studied in detail.Firstly, the background and significance of the research were presented. The status quo of the research on road lighting management technology in and outside the world and the characteristics of an intelligent networking road lighting management system were analyzed.Secondly, based on the analysis of the street-lamp manager's requirements, the function of the road lighting management system was programmed in detail. And the hierarchical architecture of the system was presented, according to which the function of the LAC and the working mode of the system were defined clearly.Thirdly, a set of intelligent lighting control strategy was presented, which syncretized time control, cluster control and environment assistant control. And a set of practical network organization method used for power line carrier communication was designed. Besides, a kind of effective scheme used for cable protection was presented.As to hardware design, the design of power supply, microprocessor and its periphery circuit, energy metering module, power control module, communication interface and the man-machine interactive interface had been described in detail.At last, in the section of software design,startup code programming, operating system choosing and transplanting, task design, drivers design and interrupt service routine design had been discussed.
