Pilot Study Of Tibetan Manor Architecture

The thesis is a part of my supervisor Prof. Wang Yongping's subject of National Natural Science Fund item. Located in snow-area plateau, Tibet is a district that has long history and abundant culture. As an integrated and special literary circle, the manor architecture full of regionally and ethnological features. It not only becomes the importance part of Tibetan traditional architecture art, but also is one of our country precious history cultural inheritances about architecture.The thesis sets out from the angle of architecture, learning the foundation theories of the related course, such as the city planning, sociology, anthropology etc. Through on-the-spot investigation about Tibetan manor architecture, on the foundation of the further search, collection, sorting data, the thesis discusses into the development, the characteristics and the place spirit of Tibetan manor architecture. Then it put forward the opinion of the protection and development of them to aim at the present condition of Tibetan manor architecture.The thesis comprises six parts: the preface talks about the background, the condition, the method and the meaning of the research, and the definition of the related concept. The second part analies the natural and cultural background on the creation and development of Tibetan manor architecture. The third part sums up the origins and the development process of Tibetan manor architecture. Then it introduces the classification on them. The fourth part researches the characteristics of Tibetan manor architecture through the space layout, shape structure, decorate and color etc. The fifth part inquiries into the place spirit of them. Particularly, Tibetan manor architecture is subjected to the religion culture of pre-eminent permeate, thus express the religious atmosphere. Tibetan social grade idea and the household ethics obsession are showed in Tibetan manor architecture. The last part puts forward to the thinking of the protection and development about Tibetan manor architecture.
