In desiccant air-conditioning system, process air is dehumidified by passing it over the desiccant and the heat of sorption is removed by sensible cooling. The air is further cooled by adiabatic humidification and directed into the residence as cool dry air. The primary advantage is its ability to efficiently dry air to very low humidity level, humidity control is achieved without any condensation, this will lead to a healthy indoor environment. This thesis introduces a hybrid air-conditioning system which incorporates gas heat-pump and desiccant dehumidification. In summer, the waste heat from gas-engine and condenser can be recovered for regeneration of desiccant wheel. In winter, enthalpy recovery mode of desiccant wheel also helps to reduce energy consumption. But there are few research work to guide how to use this technology correctly for air conditioning in China now. For this purpose, the thesis bases on the mathematical models to simulate dynamic energy consumption of a reference building in order to find advantages and disadvantages of the system.The emphasis of thesis contains five points below: 1. Analyze work principle of equipments including six components-GHP, cooler, heater, humidifier, sensible heat exchanger, then convert them into mathematical models which can be identified by computer utilizing empirical formulas and numerical treatment.2.Obtain function of desiccant wheel using mathematical methods.3.Base on hypothesis in advance, design flow path system of two coolers taking into account on dry condition cooling of the cooler, design device which recovers condensing heat of GHP to regenerate desiccant wheelAThe whole system is simplified as mathematical model on the basis of analyzing operation principal, we calculate consumption of cooling, heating and gas in one year with Matlab.5.The designed hybrid system is compared with traditional GHP system, lithium bromide absorption refrigeration system and EHP (Electric Heat Pump) system.In the finality, the problems requiring further studies are discussed.
