The tamping machine is a large maintained device in railroad which is used inland. In this paper, the current analog circuit is investigated. After this, according to the analog circuit, a digital system based on ARM7 and UCOS-II is designed to take its place. The hardware of the system is composed of three parts: dispose the analog signal to be in the right range; the kernel of the system is a main system based on ARM7; dispose the output to reach the demand of drive. This paper describes the hardware and software in detail. The hardware includes design and testing, and the software contains the transplant of operating system and application. Also we discuss some key problems. Many effective methods are proposed, which are shown as follows: (1) Inferring the max value of the key parameters in theory; (2) Adjusting the analog signals to be in the right range; (3) Keeping the universal interface to achieve the perfect switchover between the digital circuit and the analog circuit.
