The analyzing method of the contact problems and engineering application is researched basing on Hertz contacting theory and finite element method.First contact stress and deformation of parts which have normal shapes and simple contacting status are calculated using Hertz formula and finite element method. Then process of finite element method dealing with contact problem is discussed. Choice of contact elements, establishing finite element model, portion of gridding, establishing contact pairs, loading and solution are expatiated. Two ways of finite element molding, molding with CAD software and molding with CAE software are compared. Contact analysis on gyrating framework of an aircraft launching frame is presented using ANSYS finite element software. Stresses and plastic deformations of each part of the framework are calculated and simulation of reliability is given. Mechanism of the structure getting stuck is explored combining classic tribological theory. Advices of reform for the configuration are proposed based on the reason of the structure getting stuck.The compare of Hertz formula with finite element method indicates that it convenient and precise to calculate with Hertz formula, but the range of application is limited with shape of the parts; The process of finite element analysis is complicated, but the calculation is precise and range of application of it is abroad and it is not limited with shape of the parts.The fundamental causes of the frame getting stuck are found out through the finite element contact analysis on gyrating framework of aircraft launching frame. One reason is that centralization of stresss, another is cool weld.The distribution of stress and reliability of the frame are improved through reformation of the frame.
