In this work, the medium-carbon steel 45 steel as an example of the axial components radial fretting wear characteristics are analyzed. The fatigue life of fretting wear conditions of axial medium-carbon steel component is divided into three stages of fretting wear stage, crack initiation stage and crack extension stages ,and the fatigue life of axial components of 45 steel is estimated, load, friction coefficient curve 's influence to fatigue life is obtained.Hertz contact theory is adopted in this work to axial components contact problems with the plane make analytical analysis. The contact state of axial components and plane, the contact stress and the contact radius are analyzed by ANSYS numerical analysis method, and compared with Hertz contact theory Analytical conclusion. Using data processing software ORIGIN, obtained the fretting wear influence curve. The fretting wear conditions of axial medium-carbon steel component fatigue life are estimated by experience formula. Near crack initiation size, Fixed Neuber local stress strain method, Fixed McEvily formula are respectively used estimate three phase life of axial components.The axial components of medium-carbon steel radial fretting wear characteristics are analyzed, and the maximum tangential force appear at the stick-slip junction in Applied loads, X direction stress is zero, these are all crack initiation danger point of Medium-carbon steel axial components interface. As applied load and the increase of friction coefficient,stick area and mixed area of radial contact vice increase, sliding area's change is not big. Contact vertex is a border of the contact stress whose stress is the biggest .On both sides of the contact vertex approximate elliptic distribution. The slippage of the two contact vice stick area relatively is almost zero. The Relative slippage of sliding area is biggest, is the serious part of fretting wear.The fatigue life is analyzed under the conditions of the fretting wear , and obtain the fatigue life of two contact vice whose Material properties similar is bigger. The fretting wear stage is for most of the total life span of fatigue life. With the applied load and the friction coefficient of contact vice increasing, the fatigue life of axial components is reduced. When applied load and friction coefficient is smaller, the effects to fatigue life is bigger, when applied load and friction coefficient reaches a certain value, the effects to fatigue life is smaller.
