The paper introduces an intelligent traffic guiding system developed with VC. The whole system consists of three parts, including front-end crossroad traffic light controllers, sensors and monitor program. Some practical methods controlling the single crossroad are disscused. More research has been done on the realization and optimization of the system. As a result, practical controlling methods have been achieved.This system models bilateral four lanes and the parameters are set according to the usual four-phase system. The system mainly uses three kinds of signal control methods, such as timing control, inductive control and adaptive control. The timing control refreshes the traffic light signal parameters in the same interval. The inductive control is used to measure the current vehicle flow in order to display the traffic status. And the adaptive control adapts the traffic light time sequences according to the vehicle flow. The optimized algorithm based on the signal crossroad adapts the each crossroad traffic light time sequences.
