For keeping a tight control over the dumping of wastes into the ocean so as to prevent pollution damage to marine environment, some countries enact"Convention on the Prevention of Marine Pollution by the Dumping of Wastes and other Matters, London, Mexico, Moscow, Washington, 1972"together. In the convention, the activities to discharge of vessels, aircraft, platforms and other man-made structures used on the sea should be controlled strictly. And in some countries especially in the North Sea, the local Legal prescribes compulsively all the platforms should be completely removed. Anymore, Majority of fields will have continued economic production possibility. Therefore, the work to decommission platform is necessary in the evening of offshore oil industry. And GM-Lift is aimed to solve such engineering problems.GM-Lift is a novel decommissioning and installation simisubmersible different with the traditional simisubmersible. There is a great economical and learning meaning through advancing the guidance to structural design based on analyzing its functional and structural characteristics for developing independently such kind of simisubmersibles in our country. This dissertation work mainly investigates the following contains:At the first, the paper described GM-Lift functional properities, did a comparation study of structural differences between GM-Lift and traditional semi submersible rig and expatiated its specialties in structural design and strength criteria principle.Secondly, the column of simisubmersible was taked as research object in this paper, and then the minimum thickness of column shell and the minimum section modulus were caculated and checked by the load and resistance factor...
