According to the key design technology and difficulty problem of Yinchuan terminal building space steel roof, the structural tests and advanced analysis are carried thoroughly herein, and the related kick-off theory is also performed, all guarantees the smooth realization of this complex project.Firstly, a 1:6 model of steel roof is designed in line with accurate scale rule and based on the construction design drawings, which compose the triangular spider space truss, three pairs of arc arch column, SHS beam and connector joint, etc. This reflects the mechanic property of the whole roof. The 1.8 maximum upward and down load are applied to verify the structural performance, and the ultimate load also applied to check the broken of the arc arch column. The experimental analysis is comprehensively evaluated.Furthermore, a series advanced numerical analysis are performed using ANSYS for the whole steel roof, including the complex model static analysis, geometric nonlinear analysis, modal analysis, seismic spectrum response analysis, et al. The nonlinear structural performances are evaluated as stress and deflection, also the seismic dynamic response.As the load carry capacity and design criteria concerned, the practical design is based on the great numerical analysis and the threshold is set empirically.
