The Research Of Wide Area Protection System Based On Grid Computing

The protection system is facing more new challenges because of the construction of nationwide super large-scale transmission-line system of electric power, the gradual application of power market mechanism and other factors as well. How to use the existing technologies to improve the security of power net and prevent the vicious accidents, such as long-term and large-area blackout caused by relays'maloperation, has become a concerning problem of many protection specialists.The introduction of wide area protection opens a brand-new field. Different with the traditional unit protection, which only uses local measured information as its operation basis, the wide area protection draws support from today's developed communication and computer technology to share all the relevant electrical data and information and then make area protection and control decision according to power net's fault or abnormal status.
