In this paper, airflow distribution and thermal environment assessment of household central air conditioning systems in a typical residential building are studied. Based on the results validated by an experiment, CFD methods are used to study air distribution and human thermal comfort influenced by different air conditioning system patterns and various air supplying parameters such as supply air temperature, supply velocity and places of grilles. Temperature and velocity distribution of different air conditioning systems and various air supplying parameters are obtained by numerical results. Thermal indexes of APDI and PPD are applied to evaluate thermal environment of residential buildings. Conclusion obtained by simulation results can predict, analyze and evaluate airflow distribution of air condioning. Simulation results indicate that Household central air condioning systems can create good thermal environment for occupants and the results are beneficial for designing household central air conditioning systems.
