There are so many kinds of light sources could be used in laser rangefinder. Semiconductor laser diode has the characters of small size, durability, high efficiency, low operation voltage and solid state, and it is very suitable for application in shot rangefinder. Laser rangefinder consists of laser emission source, receiving system and optical antenna. This thesis mainly discusses the characters of every part of the laser source and realized a laser emission source. The source is made of semiconductor laser, collimating and coupling system, narrow pulse driving circuit.By discussing the methods of rangefinder and performance equation, several influenced factors are analyzed on the side of transmission. A tunnel junction multiple active region structure semiconductor laser is chosen. By collimating and coupling the emitting beam into optical fiber and then designing a driving circuit, the laser rangefinder could get far away. In this way, laser rangefinder could realize miniaturization.
