With the recognition of saving energy sources, increasing the unit's economy and reliability in performance has become one of the important items in plant. So, Plant On-line Performance Monitoring System has been applied widely. As the heat rate is one of the economical indexes, the real heat rate has been studied. Through the computation and monitoring of the economical indexes in plant, optimizing the unit's performance.Based on the boil and reheater dynamic characteristic, analyzing the steady formula and existed dynamic formula through a simple unit model. The result shows that the dynamic arithmetic has deficiency。And pointing out that the real reason influencing the real heat rate is the energy saved in the boil, which causes the asynchronism between the energy burnt from the fuel and the energy into the turbine. So the metal reserving capacity is analyzed in details, which can perfect the computation of unit's real heat rate.But it is hard to be applied in power plant, so a new arithmetic is bring forward which denominated weighted moving average method. It is validated through the local data to calculate the turbine heat rate. This arithmetic increases the veracity and stability of output obviously. In addition, the on-line heat rate-power chart can be gotten by this arithmetic which is useful to optimizing performance.
