Urban greenspace network planning is a kind of planning mode through which environmental, ecological and humanism aims could be satisfied. Now with china civilized rapidly, the urban ecological construction has been given much focus by the people, and also becomes an important construction work of each city. The present urban greenspace system planning has many problems such as giving too much emphasis on the greenspace quantity wile ignoring the greenspace structure and lacking of scientific basis, in order to avoid these problems the research puts a multipurpose approach of the urban greenspace network planning forward through systematical analysis and generalization. The article starts with the conception, contents, space and time dimension, planning conventions of the urban greenspace network, and reveals that it is the development of social demands which made the functions of urban greenspace keeping enrich. As the only provider of the negative entropy in the city, urban greenspace takes on environmental, ecological and humanism functions and its plan and configuration should be made according to the instruction of these three main aspects which are relatively scientific. The paper reviews and summarizes quantities of related studies and experiences, on the basis of that, it makes of environmental rebuilt, ecological restoration and humanism revival as a theoretical framework base, and constructs a multipurpose approach of the urban greenspace network planning. In the experimental research part, the article applies the planning system to the urban greenspace network planning of Shanghai city and Qingpu new town. Finally, the article gives a systematic conclusion of the main outcomes and the limitations, and it also suggests the future research directions.
