This paper aims to, by the scientific non-linear theory, analyze more and more buildings with complex physique and free mobile characteristic, and summarize the non-linear architecture characteristics, the design method, which can instructs the actual architecture creation practice. The architecture, the city and the environment are a complex non-linear system, so in such an information time full of the digital technology, we must transform the simple linear thinking model in the architecture, utilizing the powerful computer technology, to solve the architecture and city problem which are more and more complex. The non-linear thought may provide the architecture and the city a solution, which are faced with the urbanization, the information, the ecology. The paper has explained the chaos theory and the fractal theory, analyzing non-linear thought characteristic, and then, induced the non-linear architecture characteristic in the view of space, physique, structure and so on. Taking this as the design foundation, the paper proposes the non-linear architecture design method. The paper has discussed the non-linear thought in the actual creation expression through the massive detailed cases, and insisted the existing material, the computer technology, the construction method have already provided the powerful strut for the non-linear design.Although the non-linear design still has many insufficiencies in the construction, economy, function, with the theory and the technical progress, the non-linear architecture will take the symbol of the information society , and become more and more popular in the future development. Wish this paper can contribute to China's non-linear architecture development.
