With the contiuing rapid development of the national economy and scientific technological progress, the highway asphalt pavement structure gets more and more increasingly wide application. However, because the highway construction of our country started late, we lack lots of construction experience and technology. Then attendant problems such as overload-driving, overspeed-driving are getting more and more serious, the premature failure of the asphalt pavement structure is becoming more and more common. In addition, the current specification we take for design of highway asphalt pavement put the flexure as the only standard to determine the stiffness of the whole load structure, it doesn't consider the function of the road. Generally, we first determine the thickness of one or two structure level by experience. Based on this, then we calculate the thickness of another load structure layer. This method is very optional and subjective, so when we use this method to design two roads we may get two entirely different road structure, even the same road, two designing firms may also get two different road structures. In order to solve above problem, this text makes simple introduction to calculating and basic development of mechanics on asphalt pavement, flexible layer system theories and finite element methods first. Then by ABAQUS finite progroem, we establish the car wheel model of load and the asphalt road model of finite element. Considering the creep character of the asphalt, we use the elasto-visco-plastic model to simulate the face asphalt material. We analyse the regulation of response of the asphalt road structure under different perpendicular loads, such as: the pavementdeflections, the pavement biggest shearing stresses, the base course tensile stresses, the sub-basecourse tensile stresses. To the face asphalt material, we take the influence of temperature into consideration. By the result, we get some general conclusions. Then we use different asphalt road parameters (the pavement modulus, the pavement thickness, the basecourse modulus and the thickness, the sub-basecourse modulus and the thickness, the contact status of two interface) to analyse the influence of theses parameters to the response (the pavement deflections, the pavement biggest shearing stresses, the base course tensile stresses, the sub-basecourse tensile stresses) of the road structure under standard load. By the result, we can give some useful suggestion to road design and construction.
