The "Self-Service Plane" system is a kind of wireless communication system, which can transmit video and digital signals. The system can be widely used in many fields such as photography, detection on fire or disasters etc. The whole system has been divided into three blocks: subsystem on the plane, subsystem on the ballnoon and subsystem on the automobile. There are three kinds of signals involved in the "Self-Service Plane" system: video, data and instruction, which are transmitted in the radio frequency. In this paper, we will introduce the research and design process of the RF transmitting & receiving blocks in the "Self-Service Plane" system.The entire configuration of the RF transmitting & receiving system was designed firstly in this paper, then it focused on individual hardware blocks which buildup the whole system. One remarkable feature of the RF transmitting & receiving system different on other wireless transmitter & receiver blocks in the market is that structures and circuits of the individual blocks are made originally, such as frequency synthesizer, mixer, filter, LNA, PA etc. Most of the devices used in this RF system were latest products of the top semiconductor companies such as ADI, MAXIM, MiniCircuits etc, which were designed and manufactured with most advanced semiconductor technology. It's a new try with these new devices of great electronics characteristics, which promoted the systemic performance. As to the RF frequency synthesizer, a Motorola PLL MC145152 was used in the design. This IC allows users to set communication frequency freely in order to avoid frequency confliction with other wireless communication systems.In the researching process, the design and simulation works of individual blocks were done on ADS platform on computer firstly, then hardware PCBs were made with the best electronic parameters getting from computer optimization. Time used in Design and debugging was saved dramatically through this scientific research method.The design, simulation and PCB realization works of RF filter, IF filter, RF frequency synthesizer, IF frequency synthesizer, RF mixer, IF mixer, LNA and PA were done in this paper, all the blocks were tested after careful design and debugging. Most of the testing results were accorded with expectations on computer design, which testified the validity in design works. Only few testing results deviated from theoretical expectations, after careful research, reason for deviation was found and scientific explanation was given in this paper.At the end of the paper, it summarized the whole researching process of this system, emphasized works needs further study & optimization and prospected its application fields.
