The force and fracture of a fractured copper and aluminum middle-sized device clamp used in substation is analyzed. The principle of force analysis of the down-lead wire is based on the principle of the overhead transmission lines's force analysis. Theσ0, strength along the axes, is calculated from the length of the down-lead wire which is known, from this, the strength of the device clamp can be calculated. The location of the maximum strength on the welding section can be inferred too.The reason of the fracture of the device clamp has been concluded from then macroscopical and microcosmic analysis of the fractography. It is welding defects. The fracture pattern is fatigue. In this part ,the LM,SEM and XRD has been used.At the end of this thesis, the methods of preventing the fracture of the copper and aluminum middle-sized device clamp and the next work need to be done deeply.
