There are about one hundred and twenty million diabetic patients in the world nowadays, more than 40 million in China. But unfortunately, it still increases at the speed of 10 percent every year. As the number of diabetes patients growing it is important to check glucose level. Glucose level can be easily checked by a portable glucose meter and a test strip.Although, there are kinds of glucose test meters at the market, the prices are always high, and the performances also are not well enough. A multifunctional glucose test meter based on MSP430F435 is presented in this dissertation. It can, besides testing glucose, display the test result, time and date; save the test results and look up the history results. And it also has a function of giving alarm, which makes sure that the patients can test the glucose on time. Displaying in Chinese characters, low power and low cost is also its features. When linked to a PC, it can bring the test data to the PC for further processing through RS232. The test strips that the meter uses adopt new technology, which makes the test time short and the test result accurate. All of these features make the product have more competitive.The article first introduces the development of glucose test technology and tells the principle of the one it used. Then introduces how to check the micro current the test strip produced and how to design the low power device, followed by the demands of the design. And according to the demands of the design, we introduce the system hardware and software design. Finally, we conclude the formula from the data tested by the device we designed.
